BIS §232 Investigation Initiated, PPE, Medical Consumables, and Medical Equipment Imports

On September 2, 2025, the Secretary of Commerce initiated a §232 national security investigation into imports of personal protective equipment, medical consumables, and medical equipment including devices. BIS is soliciting public comments, data, and analyses through October 17, 2025. The investigation may lead to tariff or other trade-restrictive measures if imports are found to threaten national security.
