BIS Transfers Sound Suppressors from USML to EAR Effective November 20, 2026

Effective November 20, 2026, BIS will regulate exports of silencers, mufflers, and sound suppressors under the Export Administration Regulations rather than the State Department's U.S. Munitions List. This aligns suppressor export controls with the existing EAR framework governing firearms.
