CBP Will Reject Entry Summaries Missing Copper Smelt and Cast Country Detail Starting September 14
CBP updated the ACE error dictionary so that, beginning September 14, 2026, entry summaries will be rejected when the copper primary country of smelt and the country of cast are not reported. The requirement covers copper articles subject to the §232 copper action under HTSUS 8544.42.10, 8544.42.20, 8544.42.90 and 8544.49.10, excluding shipments of U.S. origin. Filers may report OTH when a smelt or cast country is unknown, and a secondary country of smelt may be reported where applicable. The message follows CSMS 69247555 and CSMS 69252300, which introduced the smelt and cast fields, this update turns an omission into a rejecting filing error rather than an informational gap.
