The U.S. Department of Commerce initiated a countervailing duty investigation (C-721-003) into imports of carbon and alloy steel wire rod from Algeria, published in the Federal Register on May 1, 2026. The investigation will examine whether Algerian government subsidies provide unfair advantages to exporters of this product. If affirmative, countervailing duties could be imposed on imports into the United States.
